WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE UTILIZING THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN FOUND, REJECTED, ANYTHING NATURAL & ORGANIC. WE LOVE WORKING WITH OUR HANDS & MAKING THE THINGS WE DESIRE.
Over the years, little by little, at The Inner Healer we have become accustomed to sustainability & ecological systems through our observation on waste produced in the hip international interior design industry. We started out simply by collecting bits and pieces, samples, off cuts, that were going to the bin as to me these things were just brand new, amazingly made and could serve a tiny project, like a travel jewellery box. But then we started to make all sorts of things with all sorts of finds & treasures. We bought more tools, then some power tools. We got a sewing machine. We renovated a house and managed its land back to an eye-pleasing standard. We learned about weed management, native trees, edible plants & trees, the importance of wildlife and insect life, growing vegetables, permaculture, propagation. And it’s nothing new that we like a good skip bin full of old junk. We collect wood, bits of everything, we love op-shops & waste facility stores, road side treasures, & council throw-outs.
The Inner Healer shop presents items that one day we needed ourselves and that we have kept making because we love them. We thought about our direct resources around us. We try always to opt for practical, simple, natural, solid. From cute shopping bags & baskets to swings, wall hooks & house signs, door stops, cushions, we make many different things to use around the house. We started to design and built furniture to suit our needs. And on our sound healing journey, we have come to use all our skills combined to produce our amazing & natural sound healing instruments. THE SWING
We love the swing. They are fun & enjoyable for kids, and adults too. They are easy on our perception of body weight and heightens our energetic frequency. It strengthens our body's core muscles, and gives a freeing sensation of happiness. It awakens one's futility & innocence. It provokes laughter and playfulness. It's a therapeutic recipe for health & longevity, a tool to form family & community bonds. To be used in abundance but with care !
We make the Australian hardwood swings with timber offcuts & tough manilla rope and stainless steel thimbles and a light weight version made of pine offcuts painted & weatherproofed with an Australian standard marine grade varnish & a natural sisal rope. Both swings are made for external use. The hardwood swing is $275 and the pine swing is $220, + postage. We currently have 2 pine swings in stock, in off-white paint. You can customise your order also and choose the colour to match your arrangement. Lead times can vary depending on material availability.
THE RAINSTICK
We would like to introduce the rainstick to our creations collection. These mesmerizing sound healing instruments are meticulously custom made with love & our hands using natural bamboo. We use various bamboo pieces and different natural fillers to create & adjust the sound the rainstick is going to make. Rice trickles gently, offering very much the sound of rain. I also use tiny smooth pebbles when the wall of the bamboo is thicker. Bamboo tends to swell in humid weather and shrink in hot dry conditions so cracking of the instrument shell is to be expected. Perhaps this is why there are not many commercial rainsticks on the market. We accept the cracks as part of the instrument but try our best to manage them. We can challenge the rainstick for you and fill the cracks with a flexible glue (recommended). We use very tightly tied sinew in the middle of the internodes to prevent any movement of the bamboo and is hidden under some natural leather decoration. We apply multiple layers of natural orange oil to nurture & hydrate the bamboo and encourage our rainstick owners to keep applying it every now & then. The rainstick comes with a thermal storage pouch that keeps the bamboo at a more regular temperature when not in use. These sorts of instruments, the rainstick or medicine drums like to be looked after with care. Prices range between $240 and $460 depending on length and decorative aspects. It includes the thermal storage pouch. These rainsticks take about 25 hours to make. All rainsticks can be personalized, we have a range of leathers and fabrics to choose from.
